New Cost-Share is Available for Clark County Businesses

Updated: Feb 22, 2021

Clark County businesses can now apply for a new cost-share program to help offset the costs of making exterior improvements to their buildings. The program was created by and will be administered by Choose Clark County, the county-wide economic development organization.

The cost-share program offers a dollar-for-dollar match, up to a maximum of $500 per project. Eligible projects include any visible exterior improvements, such as new signs, paint, siding, lighting, doors, windows, awnings, landscaping, and more. For example, if a business installs a new sign that costs $1,000, Choose Clark County will split the cost with them and reimburse $500 when the project is complete.

“We’re excited to give this program a try,” said Kristin Vandersnick, executive director of Choose Clark County. “It’s a way for us to partner with our business community and help share the cost of any spring spruce-up projects they may have.”

Choose Clark County is making a $10,000 investment into this cost-share program. The Greater Clark Area Community Foundation, the Clark Area Chamber of Commerce, and Willow Lake Area Advancement have also stepped up as funding partners. The total program budget will allow for 30 or more businesses to take advantage of the opportunity.

The Clark Area Chamber of Commerce’s investment in the program is specific to Chamber-member businesses. These businesses are eligible for an additional $100, bringing the cost-share maximum up to $600 on a $1,200 project.

“Choose Clark County is grateful to our funding partners who said yes when we asked if they’d consider helping us expand this idea. We realize that 2020 was a tough year for many businesses, and we’re hopeful that this cost-share will be helpful for Clark County businesses who are ready to re-energize for 2021,” Vandersnick added.

The sponsors desire to fund all eligible projects that apply. If more applications are received than funding is available, then the awards will be made based on which projects will make the most dramatic visible improvements.

Applications are being accepted now through March 30. Businesses will be notified of approval by April 15. Once approved, projects can be completed any time through July 31 and then receipts may be turned in for reimbursement. Click here to visit the program webpage for full details.
